Sparking Inspiration to Build Inclusive Climate Advocacy

Welcome to A Future for All, an innovative project funded by the National Lottery Climate Action Fund and brought to life in partnership with Hope for the Future, Contact, Parents for Future, and the London School of Economics (LSE).

Our partnership aims to make climate advocacy accessible and climate policies more inclusive, ensuring they reflect the needs of those most impacted by climate-related issues.

Why Does This Matter?
‍Families with disabled children and those from low-income areas often face unique challenges due to climate-related issues, such as high energy costs. Yet, their voices are often underrepresented in policy discussions.

About the Project

A Future for All combines the power of the arts with impactful advocacy to engage families and communities in climate action. This project consists of two key elements:

Positive Imaginings shows
An immersive 80-minute promenade performance set in magical woodland locations across Yorkshire. These nature-based, family-friendly shows are designed to inspire curiosity, spark action, and imagine a brighter, fairer future for all.

Climate advocacy workshops
Designed for parents and carers, these workshops empower participants to translate their "positive imaginings" into actionable climate advocacy. With expert guidance, attendees will design clear, specific asks for their politicians and learn how to engage with them effectively, driving tangible change for their communities.

Insights that drive us

The project builds on insights gathered from research conducted in partnership with the London School of Economics and Contact. Through interviews and focus groups with parents and carers of disabled children, as well as families from low-income communities, we explored:

1. The day-to-day challenges families face related to climate issues.
2. How these groups engage with democracy and any barriers they face.
3. Attitudes toward climate action.

These insights have informed the Positive Imaginings shows and advocacy workshops, ensuring they resonate with and meet the needs of our target groups.

Free Events

We warmly welcome disabled children and families on low-incomes to our  FREE events.
These are designed for all families, with a particular focus on:

1. Families with disabled children.
2. Families facing financial hardship and/or impacted by economic inequality
Our aim is to ensure that everyone can participate fully, with the support of our partners to meet access needs. While children of all ages are welcome, the events are designed with under-14s in mind.

Accessibility and Support

We are working with Contact Families, the charity that supports families, brings families together and helps families take action for others, to understand and address parent, carer, and children’s access needs, whether that’s supporting disabled children or financing transport, we aim to ensure all can attend and enjoy our performances and workshops.
We are committed to making these events as inclusive as possible.

Thanks to National Lottery Players

Thanks to National Lottery players, we have received over £1.4 million over five years from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK, to work with parents with disabled children to enable them to contribute to climate action within their communities. The funding is part of the funder’s Climate Action Fund programme.
